The Struggle of Finding Freedom in Christ

I’ll be adding more parts to this post in the future. I will start off with some basic information. The gospel isn’t a behavior modification program. Should someone change their behavior then become born from above by the Spirit? What is the role of behavior in a believers life? I will be focusing on how a child of God should believe, this is most important and influences behavior. The good news of Jesus is about his work and what he has accomplished, we as believers and his children benefit from the work he has done. We are not perfect and some struggle more than others. I hope this will be a blessing for you in your life with Christ.

We have everything we need for godly living and have received every spiritual blessing, according to 2nd Peter 1:3 and Ephesians 1:3. Being a child of God is about knowing and believing, even when we don’t feel this way all the time. Human emotions are unpredictable and transient, but they aren’t bad because they remind us of the eternal God who we image, who also experiences feelings. Certain sins or unfavorable attitudes may make some people feel “stuck.” My hope is helping you realize and understand your new identity in your savior.

In John 8:32, Jesus made a significant claim. He is addressing the Judeans who have accepted his claims. As a result of what he was teaching them about himself and who he was, if they persisted in their belief, they would be set free because he is truth. This can aid in our understanding of how we can be liberated from our own sin struggles and negative attitudes. Since Jesus had not yet died, they had not yet experienced renewed life, but they would in the near future. Here is the formula for the worlds answer concerning how to live a fulfilling life.

Performance + Achievements = Significance

Rank in Society + Recognition = Security

Appearance + Respect = Acceptance

For both believers and nonbelievers, this may temporarily provide some level of satisfaction, but genuine satisfaction only comes from knowing your value in your God. You can understand what I mean if you read the book of Ecclesiastes. You should read John 10:10 and John 11:25, keeping in mind the context. People love rules, and both believers and nonbelievers tend to believe that following rules is what pleases God. It is the “good” or “have to be good” mentality. Being good without God still equates to spiritual separation and death for the unbeliever. For the believer, this entails working harder and exerting more effort, which are religious rituals that, at least spiritually, don’t satisfy. Jesus said my burden is light not heavy. The law was given to the ancient Hebrews, showing them how hopeless their effort was.

It’s so sad that when people hear about Jesus and are spiritually born from above, they think they’re getting a ticket to heaven. That may be true, but the good news of Jesus is so much more than that. When people assert that the world’s current state is the result of the fall, which is true, but there is also more to that story. The need we have to establish an identity, to be accepted, secure, and significant can and is fully met in Christ. Since the good news of Jesus is available right now and if your a child of God, why aren’t you taking advantage of it and growing in your relationship with Him right away? You don’t need to wait and know your God one day! That day is today!

I hope freedom, knowledge, and a sense of goodness come to mind when you look at this image. You were made new when you heard the good news and were spiritually reborn into God. I don’t believe it is possible to be both old and new at the same time. The biggest, most pervasive lie is that a child of God is still a filthy, rotten sinner. It is against the law of non-contradiction to be both spiritually alive and dead at the same time. A person is either spiritually alive or dead. In the NT, the word saint is used to describe a believer, while the word sinner is used to describe unbelievers. Since you are a holy or righteous person at your very core (spirit), you are what the word “Saint” means: a holy or righteous person, because of their cultural indoctrination through traditions, people find it difficult to accept this.

I appreciate you taking the time to read, and I will continue adding to this post “The Struggle of Finding Freedom in Christ”. I hope that this helps you in your relationship with the Lord (Psalm 86:8)
